Scope and Content

From the Collection:

The voter registration records contain checklists of voters and voter registration cards from the City of Hartford. The cards contain some or all of the following personal information on registered voters: name, residence (including address changes within the city), caucus and party affiliation, ward number, date individual became eligible to vote, place and date of birth, dates of continuous residence, occupation and employer, sex, marital status, and naturalization data.

Arrangement

Cards are arranged in six alphabetical sequences. Series 2.1 dates from 1902-1940. Series 2.2 dates from 1916-66, with bulk dates of 1922-1934. Series 2.3 dates from 1969-1986. Series 2.4 dates from the 1970s-2002, with bulk dates from 1970-2000. Series 2.5 dates from 2000-2006. Series 2.6 is undated but consists primarily of later material. The dates in Series 2.1 are the dates when individuals registered to vote. For Series 2.2-2.6, the dates indicate when individuals became ineligible to vote in Hartford, for example, because they died or moved away. The cards include some or all of the following information: name, residence (including address changes within the city), caucus and party affiliation, ward number, date individual became eligible to vote, place and date of birth, dates of continuous residence, occupation and employer, sex, marital status, and naturalization data.
