Abstract
When lifelong Hartford resident and businessman Henry Keney died in 1894, he willed his land for the creation of a public park. Before the land was turned over to the City, though, it was managed by a board of trustees. The trustees acquired more land, and turned to Frederick Law Olmstead's firm to design the park. George Parker was hired as Keney Park's first Superintendent in 1896. The park was officially turned over to the City of Hartford in 1924.
