Biographical / Historical

Parsons Theatre (sometimes styled as Parsons' Theatre) was a theater located in downtown Hartford at the intersection of Prospect Street, Central Row, and American Row. It opened in 1896 and operated until 1936, when it closed and the building was subsequently demolished. In 1951, the New Parsons Theater opened at the site of the former Center Theater on Main Street. The new building was demolished circa 1961 to make way for the East-West Highway (Interstate 84).
