Biographical / Historical
The Morse School of Business started as the Bryant and Stratton College in 1860, teaching telegraphy and penmanship. In 1884, the school was bought by Edward H. Morse and renamed Morse College for Shorthand, Business, and Typewriting. The school offered an evolving range of courses into the twentieth century, including arithmetic, business correspondence, commercial law, secretarial, accounting, and business skills, data entry, and fashion merchandizing. In 1998, the school merged with New England Technical Institute. The Morse name was dropped and all students were transferred from the downtown Hartford campus to the New Britain campus.
