Biographical / Historical

The Mark Twain Masquers was a community theater group founded in 1933. Performances were held primarily at the Avery Memorial Theater at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford until 1972, when the Roberts Theatre at Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford was constructed in part to provide a permanent home for the Mark Twain Masquers. The group is notable for helping to launch the acting career of Emmy Award winner Peter Falk. In 2001, after sixty-nine seasons and over 300 shows, the organization disbanded.
